If you are using Twitter to attract new clients to your business or if you are using to communicate with existing clients or employees then you are using it exactly how Co-founder, Creator and Chairperson Jack Dorsey had hoped. In an interview with him today he revealed some key messages on how to use Twitter effectively and also sound business advice.
1) Listen to your users. Twitter founders still revolve their business around user feedback and suggestions. So listening to what is being said to you or about you should play as big of a role as “tweeting” about yourself.
2) Your business should be approachable, transparent and immediate to not only attract customers but also investors. That was the key when it came to the popularity of Twitter. It also played a role in selecting the right Venture Capital investors for their company.
3) Name Recognition is Brand Recognition. Twitter was originally going to be called “Twitch”. The success of Twitter is built on its name which is its brand.
4) Internal Communication is Key. Jack Dorsey’s number one recommendation to aspiring entrepreneurs is “Just start.” But when it comes to building a successful business he says that communicating within your company is the best way to move it forward.
5) Tweet in Your Own Voice. This is part of the transparency and approachability. If you allow your personality to come through followers will be drawn to you.
